This Chameleon Is Actually Two Painted Women

Johannes Stötter, an incredibly talented bodypaint artist from Italy, has created a video to show us exactly how his amazing illusory body art “unfolds,” showing us the full transition from the chameleon we think we see in his art to the two painted women that actually compose the image.

It took Stötter 4 hours to design the piece and 6 to actually paint it, with the help of an assistant. He has an incredible talent when it comes to transforming or hiding the human body . Depending on the subject, he either skillfully hides his models’ lines and curves or uses them to emphasize or supplement the forms he’s trying to create.

Stunning Wire Sculptures Capture The Movement Of The Human Body

It seems strange, but cold, thin wires are one of the best materials when an artist wants to represent the human form. These elegant and fluid wire sculptures by Richard Stainthorp, an artist based in Richmond in the U.K., seem like dancers or woodland spirits captured in mid-stride.

Wires are perfect for imitating the muscles and curves that we associate with the human body. As excellent as Stainthorp is with this sculptural medium, he isn’t the only artist who’s discovered its many uses

Geometric Line Tattoos By Chaim Machlev Elegantly Flow Across The Human Body

The incorporation of modern art into tattoo design is gaining steam world-wide, and one of the tattoo artists at the forefront of this movement is Chaim Machlev, whose beautiful line tattoos often look like complex geometric simulations that we’d normally expect to see on a computer screen.

Though he also creates beautiful geometric tattoos and tattoos with traditional artistic elements, the Berlin-based artist’s signature tattoos are broad and sweeping ribbons and lines that trace the bodies of their clients like trails of cigarette smoke. He previously worked as an IT manager, beginning his tattoo work in 2012, so we’re wondering if his designs might have been influenced by coiled cabled or bouncing screensavers.

Demetz’s precise and perfect mastery of human anatomy makes his sculptures look like paintings or sketches, and his wonderful compositions and sense of perspective help perpetuate this illusion. The grain of the wood and its warm colors, however, give them a tactile appearance that would be difficult to fake with paint.
